  • India’s Chandrayaan-3 lifted off from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh, making India the fourth country to achieve a controlled landing on the moon, after Russia, the United States, and China. The spacecraft will attempt a soft landing on the Moon by the end of August.
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with French President Emmanuel Macron, witnessed the Bastille Day Parade in Paris, with Mr. Modi attending as the Guest of Honour.
  • Yashasvi Jaiswal became the 17th Indian batter to score a century on Test debut, and the first to do so outside Asia in more than 21 years.
